Former Great Britain junior forward Garry Simpson has agreed another season with Murrayfield Racers.
The 21-year-old joined the Racers from Dundee Comets in December 2019 and went on to make a big impression for the club.
Simpson finished the campaign with 24 goals and 15 assists in 19 appearances for the Racers in all competitions.
His tally included four points in the Racers’ superb victory over Whitley Warriors in the NIHL North Cup final.
Simpson trialled for Bees Ice Hockey Club in England during the autumn before returning home to sign for the Comets.
However, while he will be available to play for the Dundee outfit in the NIHL North Cup if required, Simpson says he is eager to pull on the Racers jersey once again.
“I loved being with the Racers before lockdown, and it was frustrating not to be able to play again last season,” he said.
“The opportunity to trial with the Bees was too good to ignore. Even though I was there for a short time, I think it made me a better player.
“Every player wants to test themselves at a higher level, and I think I did pretty well considering it was my first time south of the border.
“I’m grateful that the Comets gave me the opportunity to ice in the NIHL North Cup when I returned to Scotland, but I also can’t wait to play for the Racers again.
“Being in front of our fans will be really special and I’m excited to have the opportunity to try to win more silverware for them this season.”
