Murrayfield Racers have strengthened their defensive unit for the upcoming season with another returnee to their roster.
Scott Geddes joined the Racers in 2018 having spent the previous few seasons in the Scottish National League (SNL) with Dundee Tigers.
He helped the team win the SNL title and Stuart Robertson Cup (SRC) in his first campaign and hoped to build on that success in 2019/20.
However, he suffered a serious ankle injury in the first leg of the SRC Final against Dundee Comets and missed the rest of the campaign.
Geddes was scheduled to play for the Racers again last season, but the coronavirus pandemic scuppered his hopes.
Uncertainty over the future of Murrayfield Ice Rink saw the 28-year-old sign for the Comets, but he is now back in the fold after the situation was resolved.
“It’s good to be back!” he said. “The Comets came to me a few months ago asking if I would be interested in helping them out in the NIHL North Cup.
“I saw it as an opportunity to play competitive games until the situation with the rink was sorted. I told them I was already committed to the Racers, and they were cool with that.
“I’ll see out the games in the cup and will be ready to go for the season with the Racers.
“My hopes for the season are to try and win everything we play in. It’s been a long time since we played together, so I’m looking forward to getting back with the boys and enjoying my hockey again.
“I have extra hunger to be a better player this time around after coming back from injury. I’m feeling fitter and more mentally strong than before.
“We’ve lost a few key players, but hopefully there’ll be some new guys and I’m confident we’ll have the depth and firepower to win more silverware this season.”
