Gold says team spirit will be key as he agrees to Racers return

Murrayfield Racers have strengthened their forward ranks for the upcoming Scottish National League (SNL) season.

Lewis Gold returns to the fold after making a significant contribution to the club’s double-winning success during the 2019/20 campaign.

The former Solway Sharks and Dundee Comets forward weighed in with 10 goals and 22 assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.

Gold’s season was cut short by injury, but he is now fit and raring to go after what has been an exciting time for him on a personal level.

“I’m really pleased that hockey is finally back for everyone to enjoy,” he said.

“This season will no doubt be great fun for the players and fans.

“Our situation is slightly different this year, but unfavourable times help to mould a great team spirit.

“I’m sure as a squad we will grow, and hopefully we’ll be back in the rink very soon.

“Since lockdown, I started a pizza truck business in Broxburn/Livingston called Geeza Pizza.

“Tony (Hand) has been very flexible, which has helped me still be able to play while continuing my new venture.

“It’d be great if Racers fans could follow the truck on Instagram and Facebook!”
