Murrayfield Racers are delighted to announce that German-born forward Alex Christian has agreed another year with the club.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a productive first season in Scotland, netting 17 goals with 24 assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.
Christian helped the club retain the Stuart Robertson Cup and picked up another winners’ medal in the NIHL North Cup in 2019/20.
He was scheduled to feature again for the Racers last season, but the coronavirus pandemic put his return to Edinburgh on hold.
However, Christian will be continuing his university studies this year and says he is excited to have the opportunity to reunite with the Racers.
“The past 18 months have been the longest break from ice hockey I ever had in my life, so I’m really looking forward to being back on the ice with the Racers,” he said.
“Thankfully, I was able to continue my PhD studies digitally, which has been a huge constant for me during the pandemic.
“I was also lucky to play some in-line hockey back home in Germany, which helps to retain the feel for the puck and the hockey-specific conditioning.
“Hearing the news that the rink may not reopen came as a shock – but knowing now that the Racers will be back, makes our comeback even greater!”
