Racers confirm players will return to the ice in preparation for the 2021/22 season

Murrayfield Racers are delighted to confirm that the club will be holding a training session at Dundee Ice Arena on Sunday, 8th August.

Director of Hockey Tony Hand has issued an invite to the players to explain the current situation and outline the Racers’ plans.

The players will then hit the ice for the first time in more than a year as the club begins its preparations for the 2021/22 season.

Racers director Willie Dunn said: “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to prepare for next season, despite the uncertainty surrounding Murrayfield Ice Rink.

“Discussions are still ongoing, but we believe there may be some positive developments over the next few weeks.

“The situation is still fluid, but we wanted to get the guys back on the ice as soon as we could safely do this type of stuff.

“It will be great to see the players put through their paces after a long time out of action and we hope this will be the next step on the road to the Racers returning.

“We’d like to thank our loyal fans for their patience during what has been an unsettling time. Hopefully, the outcome will have been worth waiting for.

“The session will also allow us to present some of the players with their NIHL North Cup winning medals!”
