Murrayfield Racers have completed their fourth signing of the summer as Scott Geddes has agreed another year with the club.
The ‘D’ man joined the Racers in 2018 having spent the previous few seasons in the Scottish National League (SNL) with Dundee Tigers.
Geddes helped the team win the SNL title and Stuart Robertson Cup (SRC) in his first campaign with the club and was eager to build on that success in 2019/20.
However, a serious ankle injury sustained in the first leg of the SRC Final against Dundee Comets during December put the 26-year-old on the sidelines.
The curtailment of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic dashed Geddes’ hopes of returning to the ice, but he says he is looking forward to linking up with the team again next term.
“I’m buzzing to be back for a third year,” he said. “Even though last season ended prematurely, we made massive steps forward by winning the NIHL North Cup and competing with teams at a higher level.
“We had a superb bunch of guys and it was the best locker room I’ve played in during my time in ice hockey.
“My bad injury just before Christmas was a huge setback for me and it was tough watching the boys winning from the stands, but they were superb with me and I never felt left out of things.
“I’m now nearly back to full fitness, but my personal goal for next season is being fitter and stronger so I can help the team win everything we compete in.
“I want us to continue developing as a team and try and get our league title back. The Racers are such a professionally run organisation and I’m really looking forward to being part of that again for another year.”
