Simpsons together again as Murrayfield Racers retain prolific forward

Former Scotland and Great Britain junior forward Garry Simpson has agreed another year with Murrayfield Racers.

The 19-year-old joined the Racers from Dundee Comets back in December and went on to make a huge impression during the rest of the campaign.

Simpson finished the season with 24 goals and 15 assists in 19 appearances for the Racers in all competitions.

His tally included four points in the Racers’ thrilling victory over Whitley Warriors in the final of the NIHL North Cup.

Simpson, who will once again link up alongside his brother Marty, says he is looking forward to playing a full season with the club.

“My first season with the Racers was great,” he said. “The guys are a great laugh and they are a good bunch of players.

“The team has a good set-up as you have to fight for a spot – you don’t just get given it, which makes everything work at a high tempo.

“For my second season I’m looking forward to putting myself to the test again and helping the team to even more victories.”
