Close-season rebuild underway as Simpson agrees another year with the Racers

Murrayfield Racers are delighted to confirm that Marty Simpson has agreed a second season with the club.

Simpson joined the Racers from Kirkcaldy Kestrels last summer and quickly established himself as an integral part of the defensive unit.

He regularly chipped in with points during the campaign, bagging 20 goals with 23 assists in 36 appearances in all competitions.

His efforts contributed to the Racers retaining the Stuart Robertson Cup and claiming the NIHL North Cup for the first-ever time.

After picking up two winners’ medals last season, Simpson says he’s looking forward to another productive campaign with the club.

“My first season with the Racers was amazing – the fans and the boys all made it easy to settle into the team.

“I learned a lot and feel I improved as a player which was one of my goals. That made it an easy decision to come back this season.

“I want to keep improving my game next season and hope we can win some more silverware. I’m really looking forward to being back on the ice and with the boys.”
