Murrayfield Racers closed the gap on Solway Sharks at the top of the Scottish National League (SNL) to just three points after recording two road victories over the weekend.
The Racers travelled to North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday eager to keep their title hopes alive and they duly delivered the goods with a polished performance.
Goals by Ethan Reid and Joel Gautschi put Murrayfield 2-0 by the end of the first period and it was a lead they never looked like losing.
Further goals in the middle session by Gautschi (2), Garry Simpson and Ross Borwick put the game beyond Wild, and Jack Wright’s first for the club in the final period crowned an emphatic 7-0 win.
Tony Hand’s side completed a four-point weekend with a dominant display at Kirkcaldy Kestrels on Sunday.
Rolands Dietlavs (3), Garry Simpson and Gautschi were on target as the Racers eased to an impressive 5-2 victory.
The Racers are on the road again next Sunday as they visit Dundee Tigers in the first leg of their Scottish Cup semi-final tie.
