Murrayfield Racers host Paisley Pirates on Sunday (face-off 6.00pm) aiming to regain the winning thread in the Scottish National League (SNL).
The Racers were unable to withstand a late charge by Solway Sharks last weekend as the league leaders recovered from a two-goal deficit to record a 5-4 overtime victory.
The result left Murrayfield second in the table, nine points behind the Dumfries outfit with three games in hand.
Tony Hand’s side have faced the Pirates three times this season, defeating them twice in the group stage of the Stuart Robertson Cup (SRC) and once in the league.
The two sides first met in the SRC towards the end of October, with Joel Gautschi (4) topping the scoring as the Racers roared to a 9-1 home win.
Period scores of 1-2, 0-5 and 0-5 saw the Racers seal an emphatic 12-1 success in the reverse fixture in the middle of November – Callum Boyd (4) and Michael Ireland (3) were amongst the scorers.
The Racers’ third meeting with Paisley came in the league earlier this month, with Marty Simpson (2) and Garry Simpson (2) leading the way in an impressive 8-1 road victory.
The Pirates have since reeled off three wins in a row to move up to fourth in the standings and will be keen to continue their improvement this weekend.
