Murrayfield Racers have strengthened their roster ahead of the transfer deadline by completing the signing of Rolands Dietlavs.
The Latvian forward has spent most of his career in his homeland, icing in the top flight for HK Ogre, Zemgale, Prizma Riga and HK Ozolnieki/Monarch.
He also had a spell in the Netherlands, before returning to Latvia to play for Zemgale once again.
The 27-year-old was a childhood friend of current Racers ‘D’ man, Rihards Grigors, and it is that link that has seen him arrive in Scotland.
Dietlavs has moved to Edinburgh for work purposes and is aiming to lay down roots in the city over the coming months.
He attended last Sunday’s thrilling NIHL North Cup tie against Solway Sharks and was immediately hooked by the superb atmosphere.
Racers’ Director, Willie Dunn, said: “We are fortunate that Rolands has come to Edinburgh and we are looking forward to seeing what he can bring to our squad going forward.
“We’ve had a few injuries to contend with over the past few weeks and he brings competition for places heading into a crucial part of the season.”
