Murrayfield Racers continued their defence of the Scottish National League (SNL) title with an emphatic victory over Aberdeen Lynx on Sunday.
The Racers went into the game hoping to move up to second place in the standings and that outcome never really looked in any doubt.
Goals by Lewis Gold and Joel Gautschi put the home side 2-0 ahead by the first buzzer and it was a lead they would never relinquish.
Archie Holmes extended the Racers’ advantage in the 24th minute, before John Paul Jack gave the visitors brief hope a minute later.
However, normal service was resumed after 30 minutes as Michael Ireland restored the home side’s three-goal cushion.
Garry Simpson (2) and Gold added to the Racers’ tally in the final session to complete a comfortable 7-1 win.
Tony Hand’s side are back in action next weekend as they face Dundee Comets in the final of the Stuart Robertson Cup.
The Racers travel to Dundee on Saturday for the first leg, before returning to home ice the following day for the reverse fixture.
