Murrayfield Racers have strengthened their roster after completing the signing of Scottish forward Garry Simpson.
The 19-year-old initially progressed through the junior system at Fife, racking up plenty of points as he progressed though the different age groups.
He became an integral part of Fife Falcons’ success in the Scottish U20 League, helping the team win numerous trophies over the past few years.
Simpson’s performances saw him added to the Kirkcaldy Kestrels’ squad for the 2016/17 season and he quickly went on to make his mark at senior level.
The youngster established himself as one of the Kestrels’ top forwards over the next two years, regularly finding the back of the net as the club claimed successive third place finishes in the SNL.
Simpson has also gained national recognition, representing Scotland at all junior age groups and Great Britain at U16 level.
The move to Murrayfield reunites Garry with his brother, Marty, and they’ll be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous siblings like the Hands who enjoyed success in a Racers shirt.
Simpson, who started the current campaign with Dundee Comets, says he is delighted to make the move to Murrayfield.
“The Racers have looked really good so far this season and I’m excited to get started with the team,” he said.
“It will be good to play alongside Marty again. Hopefully I can work well with Tony (Hand) and progress myself to be the best player I can be.”
