Racers hoping to end NIHL North Cup group games on a high note

Murrayfield Racers complete their NIHL North Cup group fixtures this weekend aiming to finish off with a flourish.

The Racers travel to Teesside to face Billingham Stars on Saturday, before returning to Murrayfield Ice Rink to meet Whitley Warriors the following day.

Tony Hand’s side were beaten 6-2 by Billingham in the reverse fixture back in October, with the Moralee D1 side producing an impressive performance.

However, the Racers were far from disgraced and will be eager to put on a good show for their large contingent of travelling fans.

Murrayfield return to home ice on Sunday to renew rivalries with the high-flying Warriors.

The two sides met at Hillheads two weeks ago, with Whitley recording a 5-3 victory in a bad-tempered encounter.

The Racers led until the midway point in that game, but four goals in just over four minutes by the home side proved to be their undoing.

Whitley have won 11 out of 14 matches in all competitions this term, but the Racers will be going all out to end their group games on a high note and set themselves up nicely for the semi-finals.
