Racers’ defenceman handed opportunity with the Flyers

Murrayfield Racers have granted permission for ‘D’ man Marty Simpson to ice for Fife Flyers on Saturday.

The Flyers will begin their preparations for the new Elite League season with back-to-back friendly fixtures against Herlev Eagles.

The EIHL club are still waiting for some of their imports to arrive in Scotland, leaving them in need of players for the double-header against the Danish outfit.

Racers director, Willie Dunn, says the club are happy that Simpson has been given the opportunity to play for the Flyers.

“Marty remains our player, but this is good experience for him and we wish him well for the game,” he said.

“Being in an EIHL environment can only help his development and we’ll hopefully benefit when he puts on a Racers shirt against Dundee Comets on Sunday.”
