Murrayfield Racers add versatile British-born player to their roster

Murrayfield Racers are delighted to confirm the addition of Jack Wright to their roster for the upcoming campaign.

The British-born player heads to Edinburgh having spent the last three seasons with Villars HC in Switzerland.

The 20-year-old boasts an excellent winter sports pedigree, having represented Great Britain in skiing.

Wright is moving to Scotland this autumn to study mechanical engineering at Edinburgh University and says he is looking forward to linking up with his new teammates.

“I was born in the UK, but went out to Switzerland at a young age for my parents’ work,” he said.

“I grew up in a little ski resort with an ice rink and joined the hockey club with some friends at the age of about five.

“Since then I have played in all the junior teams and have done three seasons with a senior team in the Swiss third division.

“My strengths are my skating ability and physical play as a defenceman. I have also played as a centre, but not for a few years now.

“For this season I just want to keep working on my skills, properly integrate into the team and enjoy playing the game for the Racers.”

Racers Director, Willie Dunn, added: “We’re delighted that Jack has agreed to join us for the upcoming season and he will be a good addition to our contingent of British players.”

“We’re looking forward to welcoming him to Scotland and seeing him in a Racers shirt.”
