Boyd is back and eager to build on impressive first season with the Racers

Murrayfield Racers are delighted to announce that forward Callum Boyd has agreed a second season with the club.

The 25-year-old was a key part of the club’s success last term, scoring 12 goals with 21 assists in 12 appearances as the Racers swept to the Scottish National League (SNL) title.

Boyd also helped the team win the Stuart Robertson Cup and reach the final of the SNL play-offs and Scottish Cup.

The forward previously played for Solway Sharks and Kilmarnock Storm, before going on to ice in nearly 200 games in the Elite League.

He helped Braehead Clan win the Gardiner Conference title during the 2016/17 campaign and will be an integral part of the Racers’ bid for honours next season.

Boyd was linked with a move to numerous other clubs this summer, but he says he is delighted to commit his future to the Racers.

“I really enjoyed playing with the boys and for Tony (Hand) last season, which made it an easy decision to decide to come back,” he said.

“I want to have a better season myself and stay out the penalty box more! I’ve started pre-season training now, so will be looking to be fitter and ready as soon as it starts.

“We had a good first season together, but I feel like we could have done better. I’m really looking forward to joining when the season starts and gets underway.

“The team Tony is building is looking strong so far, so I’m glad to be added to it.”
