Murrayfield Racers are delighted to confirm the return of netminder Mark McGill for the upcoming season.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar first year with the club, backstopping the team to success in the league and the Stuart Robertson Cup.
His efforts were rewarded at the Racers’ Player of the Year Dinner as he scooped three individual awards voted by the club’s fans, players and head coach.
In addition to icing in the SNL, McGill has previously played in the Elite League, Northern League and National League, and he will be an integral part of the Racers’ bid for honours next season.
“I’m glad to be back in a Racers jersey once again – last season was really successful,” he said.
“Doing the double was great, although we were all gutted to lose the two finals and not achieve a clean sweep. It definitely gives us something to work for this season.
“The league seems a little stronger with Solway Sharks joining – it’s going to make it a tougher season. We’ve also got a different line-up in the NIHL North Cup, but I’m looking forward to the competition.
“I can’t wait for pre-season training to get underway to make sure we’re ready for the start – it’ll be great to see all the fans again at the first home game.
“If you fancy having me chew your ear off before then, Blackdog Barbers is where I’ll be – book yourself in for the frostiest haircut!”
