Scotland junior international ‘D’ man agrees move to Murrayfield

Murrayfield Racers have secured the services of Liam Danskin for the upcoming season.

The ‘D’ man has represented Scotland extensively at junior level, and has also played in the annual U19 international against England at Conference Weekend for the past two seasons.

Danskin initially progressed through the junior ranks at Fife, before heading to Canada to spend the 2016/17 campaign with the Ontario Hockey Academy.

He iced in over 70 games for the organisation, but returned to Scotland the following summer to continue his development.

The 18-year-old has split his time between the SNL and Scottish U20 League over the past two seasons with Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Fife Falcons respectively.

He helped the Kestrels finish third in the league last term and also picked up the club’s Young Player of the Year Award.

Danskin becomes the second player to agree a switch from Kirkcaldy to Murrayfield this summer, following in the footsteps of fellow blueliner, Marty Simpson.

“I’m really excited about my move to Murrayfield,” he said. “Playing against Racers last season I admired the speed and structure that the team played with.

“I feel like this move is really going to improve my game. I had a couple of options down south this summer and more in the SNL, but I decided to stay in Scotland and join the team I thought I’d improve and gain the most valuable experience with.”
