Prolific Ireland eyeing more silverware after agreeing another season with Murrayfield

Murrayfield Racers are delighted to confirm that Michael Ireland has agreed a second season with the club.

The forward played an influential role for the Racers in 2018/19, helping the team clinch the Scottish National League (SNL) title and Stuart Robertson Cup.

Ireland, who represented Scotland at junior level, is averaging well over a point per game in the SNL and says he is delighted to be part of the Racers’ roster next term.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better first season with the Racers – there were so many amazing moments, but winning the league was something very special,” he said.

“For this coming season we are aiming to continue being dominant in the league. It will be tough, as I feel the top four teams will be stepping up their game, but we will be there to battle.

“Falling at the last hurdle in the Scottish Cup and the play-offs was tough, so getting are hands on that silverware would be a dream and something we should aim for.

“I’m happy to be back in the Racers’ line-up for the upcoming season and will definitely give it my all.

“I’d also like to thank Willie Dunn for all his hard work in the background – he is the glue holding our kennel together!”
