Great Britain youngster returns as Racers continue to build

Great Britain U18 ‘D’ man Ethan Reid has agreed a second season with Murrayfield Racers.

The promising youngster enjoyed an impressive first campaign with the club, playing an integral role as the Racers claimed the Scottish National League title and Stuart Robertson Cup.

Reid’s efforts were rewarded at international level with a call-up to the GB U18 squad for the World Championship tournament in Hungary during April.

He was also part of the Scotland U19 roster for their annual international match against England at iceSheffield in early May.

Reid says he is delighted to have the opportunity to continue his progression under Racers’ Director of Hockey, Tony Hand, during the upcoming campaign.

“Last season was up there with the best – winning two out of four in our inaugural season and playing with so many talented guys was amazing,” he said.

“When Tony asked me to come back next season, it was a no-brainier. I learned so much from him last season and know another season under him I can only get better and more confident.

“I’ll be working on my fitness during the off-season to increase my stamina and try to build a bit more muscle.

“Hopefully I can help the Racers win every competition next season and make it onto the GB U18 roster again.”
