Geddes back for more as the Racers continue to build their roster

Murrayfield Racers have secured their second signing of the summer with defenseman Scott Geddes agreeing another year with the club.

The 25-year-old joined the Racers last summer having spent the previous few seasons in the Scottish National League (SNL) with Dundee Tigers.

Geddes enjoyed an impressive first year at Murrayfield, playing an integral role as Tony Hand’s team won the SNL title and Stuart Robertson Cup.

His efforts were recognised at the club’s Player of the Year Dinner last Friday as he picked up the ‘Iron Man’ award.

Geddes, who follows Rihards Grigors in signing for another season with the Racers, believes the club can challenge for more silverware next term.

“I felt our first season as a team was one to be proud of,” he said. “To go undefeated in the league is something that is hard to beat, but we’ll be trying everything we can to repeat that feat next season.

“I feel we progressed massively under Tony’s coaching and we can only get better. We will be looking to carry on from our success last season, but we want to win the two trophies that got away from us.

“We also want to be more competitive in the NIHL Northern Cup, as last year we went in not really knowing what to expect.

“Signing on for next season was a no-brainer for me. Last season was by far my favourite as a player and I’m looking forward to making it a better one next year.

“I still have a lot of aspects of my game I can improve on and I feel there’s no better place than here to do that.”
