Murrayfield Racers’ dream of winning the treble was ended in heartbreaking fashion by Dundee Comets in the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday.
The Racers were less than six minutes away from victory, but the Comets managed to take the game to overtime before going on to claim the trophy.
Sean Donaldson put Murrayfield ahead in the second minute, but Ben Edmonds brought Dundee level after 15 minutes.
Dundee stepped things up after the first break, opening up a 3-1 lead courtesy of goals by David Pokorny and John Dolan.
However, the Racers refused to lie down and battled back to make it 3-3 in the third period through Aaron Robertson and Joel Gautschi.
Michal Beca put the Comets back in front, but goals by Gautschi and Callum Boyd saw the Racers take a 5-4 lead by the 51st minute.
Pokorny bagged his second of the game after 54 minutes to send the game to overtime, and the Comets went on to secure the victory as Adam McNicoll scored the decider with just 36 seconds to play.
