Racers on course for treble after clinching Stuart Robertson Cup

Murrayfield Racers claimed the Stuart Robertson Cup (SRC) courtesy of a 17-5 aggregate victory against North Ayrshire Wild over the weekend.

Wild gave the Racers an early fright in the first leg on Saturday, opening up a two-goal advantage by the 24-minute mark.

However, goals by Aaron Robertson (2) and Richard Hartmann put the Racers ahead by the second buzzer and it was a lead they would never relinquish.

Joel Gautschi, Sean Donaldson and Michael Ireland added further goals in the final session to give the Racers a 6-2 lead heading into the second leg.

Tony Hand’s side dominated the reverse fixture, with goals by Gautschi (4), Martin Cingel (3), Callum Boyd, Robertson, Steven Clark and Ireland securing a comfortable 11-3 success.

With the Scottish National League title and SRC in the bag, the Racers will attempt to complete the treble in the final of the Scottish Cup on Saturday, 11th May,

The team will warm-up for the game with a fixture against Scotland U19 at Murrayfield Ice Rink on Sunday, 28th April (face-off 5.30pm).

Admission for adults is £10.00 per person, concessions (U16, OAP and disabled) £5.
