Murrayfield Racers face a weekend on the road as they continue their bid to win the Scottish National League title.
The Racers visit North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday, before heading south the following day to face Solway Stingrays.
Three points would be enough to clinch top spot for Tony Hand’s side and keep them on course to sweep the board in Scotland this season.
Scott Geddes has played a key role this term, with his late equaliser against Kirkcaldy Kestrels a couple of weeks ago the standout moment for the ‘D’ man. He believes the Racers have improved massively under Hand’s guidance this season.
“The team has gelled together perfectly,” he said. “A lot of the boys hadn’t played together before and we’ve had to learn Tony’s style of play.
“We’ve fought for each other and played the best hockey in our league this season. We’ve worked hard on fitness and I think that shows going into the third period in most of our games, as we do most of our scoring then.
Saturday’s game against North Ayrshire pitches the Racers against a side they have already beaten three times this season.
Murrayfield won 5-3 in the league on the opening weekend of the campaign and followed up by claiming victory in both legs of their Scottish Cup quarter-final tie.
With the Racers also winning 15-2 in the reverse league fixture against Solway, Geddes is hopeful that the team can pick up the points they need to secure the title.
“North Ayrshire is a hard place to go and play, as it’s smaller than we are used too and Wild have a few dangerous players who can cause us problems. However, we will go there with confidence that we can get two points.
“It will be the same attitude when we go Solway. From what I’m hearing, a large group of fans are going to both games who will get right behind the team, so we want to put in two good performances to reward them for their support.
“Being on the verge of the title is extra motivation for us to perform well. It would be a massive achievement for everyone involved with the club to win the league in our first year back.
“We have worked hard all season to be where we are and we will give everything we have to get us over the line this weekend.”
