Murrayfield Racers moved closer to claiming the Scottish National League title after picking up four points over the weekend.
The Racers visited Kilmarnock Thunder on Saturday and ran out comfortable 13-3 winners – Joel Gautschi (3), Aaron Robertson (2), Ross Borwick (2), Rihards Grigors (2), Sean Donaldson (2), Patriks Grigors and Dean Walker got the goals.
Tony Hand’s side returned to home ice the following day to face Aberdeen Lynx and they got off to the perfect start as Gautschi bagged two powerplay goals inside the first nine minutes. However, Lynx battled back and drew level through Elliott Willets and Jordan Leyden.
Borwick fired the home side back in front early in the second period, before Willets quickly made it 3-3 with his second of the game.
Goals by Rihards Grigors and Patriks Grigors looked to have put the Racers in control of the match, but Iain Malcolm reduced the deficit to a single goal before the second break.
Both sides created chances in the final session, but neither could find a way past netminders Mark McGill or Craig Chalmers.
The result leaves the Racers two points clear of Kirkcaldy Kestrels with three league games to play. Two victories from those matches would guarantee the title.
The Racers are on the road next weekend, visiting North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday before heading to Dumfries to face Solway Stingrays the following day.
The club is considering taking a coach to the Solway game. Price would be £25 per person (travel only). Please email email@example.com by Wednesday when a decision will be made.
