Murrayfield Racers retained their unbeaten record in the Scottish National League (SNL) with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Paisley Pirates on Sunday.
In front of a bumper crowd at Murrayfield Ice Rink, the home side bagged an early lead courtesy of Michael Ireland. The Pirates quickly hit back, with Daniel Abercrombie equalising in the sixth minute.
The Racers continued to press and were rewarded after 13 minutes as Callum Boyd teed up Joel Gautschi to make it 2-1.
The visitors refused to lie down and tied the game up in the 25th minute, but Boyd soon restored the Racers lead.
Abercrombie grabbed his second of the game to make it 3-3 early in the final session, but Gautschi ensured the home fans went home happy with the winner after 49 minutes.
Tony Hand’s side were also in action the previous day, going down 6-4 at Blackburn Hawks in the NIHL North Cup – Boyd, Gautschi, Lewis Young and Martin Cingel were on target for the Racers.
