Murrayfield Racers head into 2019 with their eyes firmly set on mounting a serious title challenge in the Scottish National League (SNL).
The Racers are four points adrift of Dundee Comets and Paisley Pirates having played three games fewer than their rivals for top spot.
Tony Hand’s side start this weekend with a game at Blackburn Hawks in the NIHL North Cup on Saturday, but their main focus will undoubtedly be on their home league game against the Pirates the following day.
The Racers have reached out to fans of Edinburgh’s top football clubs in a bid to attract a bumper crowd to a fixture that could go a long way to determining the destination of this season’s title.
Player/Assistant Coach Martin Cingel admits he is expecting two tough fixtures this weekend.
“Regarding Saturday’s game, none of the teams can progress to the next stage but I’m expecting a difficult match,” he said.
“However our focus is Sunday’s game against Paisley. It is a league game and a must win for us if we want to challenge for the title.
“It is a great idea from the club that they made a special offer to all football fans in Edinburgh. I hope we will get more people behind us and they help us to pick up two important points.”
